Healthy Choices
How would I know if I am making the right food choices?
Your body gives you the answer in many ways. You probably are not making the right food decisions if you:
- Are overweight
- Have high cholesterol or triglycerides
- Have low energy level
- Are too thin
- Lose or gain weight too fast
- Suffer from constipation
- Skip meals
- Have repetitive meals, lack variety of foods
- Eat too much of a single food
- Are a vegetarian and don’t know how to substitute the protein in meats
- Eat high-fat meats, plenty of cheese and other fatty foods
- Always fry foods when cooking
- Have food allergies or intolerances and do not know to replace the nutrients you lack
- Do not include fruits and vegetables in your meals
- Eat high sugar/fat desserts in most meals
- Drink fruit juices or juice drinks every time you are thirsty
- Eat too often at restaurants
- Follow fad diets, low carbohydrates/high protein, or any other diet that produces drastic weight loss
- Are on a restricted diet based on one or a few foods
- Eat plenty of processed foods
- Other habits and modifications not stated above that imply restrictions or excesses of certain nutrients.
